Yoga for Golfers

Now is the perfect time to prepare your body and mind for the golf season. Your opponents will want to know your secret. Keep them guessing or tell them about Yoga for Golfers! No prior yoga experience necessary.

  • Everyone knows that golf is an extremely mental game that can be improved if players disassociate from their mental stress. Once the mind chatter is quieted through yoga, golfers can approach each swing with more presence and awareness.

  • A strong, stable, fluidly moving body is more important to a golfer’s game than his brand of clubs. Asanas (yoga poses) will help identify and correct inevitable bodily imbalances, and cultivate strength and flexibility.

Benefits of Doing Yoga

I used to think yoga was a waste of time. I'd run on a treadmill watching people file into a yoga room and thought they were absolutely nuts. If I wanted to lay down, I could stay home. But then I kept noticing the way they looked when they left…taller, happier, glowy. And I wanted to feel like that.

  • Pain is cyclical. When it occurs, it causes stress, makes you upset, and the pain progresses. Yoga breaks the pain cycle. I was in pain for more than 15 years caused by ruptured discs in my neck. The discs are still ruptured, for sure, but they no longer cause me pain.

  • The definition of yoga is the union of the body and the mind. No other exercise achieves this. Yoga allows your body and your mind to work in concert with each other. Yoga strengthens your entire body and teaches you to be in tune with your breath and your entire being.

  • Regular practice will help you identify ailments sooner. The same goes for negative thoughts, so you can stop them in their tracks. Your time on the mat will allow you to access your inner superhero.

  • Long, lean muscles await you. With regular practice, you will actually crave healthier food. Kale will become your new cupcake. Well, not really, but you will enjoy newfound enthusiasm for foods your body actually needs. Things will shift into place, no Spanx required. Those days you powered through a plate of cookies and a 3 glasses of wine “just because” will be a distant memory.

  • Yoga requires your complete focus. In today’s society it is difficult to completely focus on anything. With regular yoga practice, you will find that you are able to fully focus on people and tasks throughout your day. Decisions are made more quickly and intuition is strengthened.

  • Think of a time when you were walking your tallest, balanced perfectly on your feet, head held high. Now imagine feeling like that every day. Do yoga, get happy.
