Superfly Chai Tea

I’m so addicted to this tricked out tea!  It’s full of health promoting spices and perfect for early falls’s fluctuating temperatures since it’s equally awesome hot or iced.

6 cups water

2 cinnamon sticks

6 cardamom pods

4-5 whole cloves

1-2 tablespoons fennel seeds (naturally sweet)

3 yerba mate, green or black tea bags

Optional: thinly sliced fresh ginger, milk (coconut milk is my fave), sweetener

Place water, spices and ginger (if using) in a pot and bring to a boil for 2 minutes. Add tea bags and steep for 5-10 minutes.  Strain and serve with optional sweetener and milk.

You can get these ingredients at a health food or international grocery store.  Locals: I get mine at Bhavik Grocery 130 East Main Street, Elmsford.
