Resolutions!  I’m no stranger to them.  Before I started practicing yoga my resolutions included efforts to be “less gross”, lose weight, make more money, and be more organized.  I made action plans and created timetables. All that self scrutiny made me feel terrible!  Here’s how to give your resolutions a shiny new makeover.

OLD WAY: My resolution is to lose 20 pounds/increase my income by 15%/teach my kids to pick up after themselves/cut crappy carbs/start a garden/decrease impulse buying/stop yelling, etc.

NEW WAY: I choose to feel more like the goddess/superhero/financial Einstein/buddha-esque person I truly am, I will make decisions to support this choice.

Why? Maybe we will accomplish our resolutions by March, and we shot too low, what a letdown!  Maybe we never come close to accomplishing our resolutions because they were too lofty, leaving us to feel failure.  Maybe we aren’t willing to put in the focused work to create a new reality, leaving us feeling dispassionate.  The new way points us in the direction of how we want to feel instead of busying ourselves with a to do list.

The new way is empowering, limitless, patient, deep and satisfying.  Yoga can help by increasing our ability to be present in situations that occur and our reactions (or non reactions).  The word resolution means change, but in a digital sense, it means sharp, clear and detailed. A high resolution life, with gorgeous sharpness, amazing clarity and delicious detail awaits!

Happy New Year and may 2015 be your best year yet!
